About Nissos Makri

Located in the center of the Ionian Sea, Nissos Makri is one of the southern islands, known as Ouniades or Oxeiae, in the Ionian island group.
It is situated on the far southeastern side of Makri Bay.

In 1920, the British described Makri as having the finest natural harbor in Asia Minor.

Preliminary study by a specialized company for the supply of electricity, water, and telephone via cable from the shores of the Acheloos River to the corresponding installation point of the stations on the island.

Studies for public works on the island with modern infrastructure (distribution of electrical power, water, telephone to every point on the island, biological treatment, tree planting, etc.).

Completion of the required studies for authorization to build a marina, fishing shelter, and helicopter landing pad.

Makri Island is in the Ionian Sea, in the Echinades region, very close to the mouth of the Acheloos River and the islands of Ithaca, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, and Lefkada.

The Echinades are a group of islands in the Ionian Sea, off the coast of Akarnanía, Greece.

Six of the islands, including the large Oxia, were recently purchased by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
Skorpios Island, formerly owned by Aristotle Onassis, is located near Nissos Makri (24 nautical miles to the north) and was recently purchased by Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev.
